Welcome to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Education Trust

Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Education Trust was established in January 2018.

The current academies within the trust are St. Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy and St. Aidan’s Catholic Academy.

The trust is situated within the R.C. Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle within Monkwearmouth Catholic Partnership. Both academies are situated in the City of Sunderland, the city by the sea, in the North-East of England.

Our schools have been serving the community within the city, and beyond, for over a hundred years and have a track record of success over time in personal development, examination results and progression to higher education and the world of work. We have many alumni locally, nationally and internationally in many and varied fields: public service, private sector business, media and sport.

By developing, holistically, the individual skills and talents of our students we hope they make a powerful, and positive, contribution to family, parish, and community.

Please read important information for parents during school closures due to COVID-19.  St Aidan’s Catholic Academy and St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy are working together to provide care for children of key workers as detailed per the attached letters:
